Makanaka is a driven changemaker who volunteers at local hospitals and participates in initiatives like ENGi, to help English to Ukrainians. A devoted educator, Makanaka creates videos about global issues, which led her to win the "World of 8 Billion: Best Video in Africa" award in 2022. Makanaka serves on the Junior City Council and was also involved in Toastmasters. Her compassion, intelligence, and hardworking nature propelled her to success in the St. John Ambulance National First Aid competition, the National Nissan Art Cont"est, and the Tournament of the Minds. "Youth Intern, Makanaka's Rise project, is a platform designed to effortlessly connect citizens seeking meaningful internships with reputable businesses that offer diverse internship opportunities. In the future, Manaka hopes to start a business in the education-technology space.
