Melany is passionate about ending food poverty. For her Rise project, she worked with local stores to donate food that would have gone to waste and helped create nutritious meals for people in her community. Melany continues to work with the stores to coordinate a wider, sustainable effort to achieve food security in the area. Melany also serves as Student Body President at her school, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for March for our Lives Maryland, and is Mental Health Coordinator for the Maryland Association of Student Governments.
