Rise Fellow 2023

Rion is an enthusiastic learner from Japan, currently living in Australia. Her experiences as a first-generation immigrant inform her values and desire to help others. Rion has received multiple prestigious awards—two at the Young Scientist Awards and twelve at the da Vinci Decathlon. She serves as captain of her school's justice club, student representative, astronomy club member, and peer support leader. For her Rise project, Rion established an organization dedicated to increasing awareness, diminishing stigma, and offering structured resources to support individuals living with dementia and make these resources accessible to all, including young caregivers. Rion plans to explore the unique opportunities between science and design while leveraging talents in these disciplines to make positive contributions to the world.
