Malaika Naseer

Malaika is an advocate for women’s rights and a volunteer teacher in her community. She was a semi-finalist at the International Biology Bowl and now researches the impact of rising CO2 levels on lung diseases at a local university lab. Malaika also spends her weekends preserving rare subcontinental literature at Kitab Ghar. For her Rise project, Malaika created a website and an app prototype that helps divorced and widowed women in rural areas—from connecting them to pro-bono lawyers to teaching them skills such as sewing, handicraft making, entrepreneurship, and more. Malaika spends her time unraveling the mysteries of biology and reading Jane Austen.
