Rise Global Winner 2021

Lydia is a writer, activist, and researcher who uses language to speak truth to power and to connect her audiences to important issues. For her Rise project, she convinced her United World College to replace ineffective single-use plastic masks with effective reusable models during the COVID-19 pandemic and reported her project through spoken word poetry. A scholar-alumna of Global Citizen Year Academy, Preparing Global Leaders Forum, and the European Summer Program on Rationality, Lydia has represented young people as a member of Kent Youth County Council and the UK Youth Parliament whilst serving as International Coordinator of the UK Student Climate Network. Lydia is currently reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford.
