Rise Global Winner 2024

Precious is a Ugandan high school student passionate about community service. Inspired by her desire to address the lack of clean water in her community, Precious created a simple yet effective water purifier using everyday materials: plastic bottle, stones, coarse sand, charcoal and fine sand in layers. The stones remove the big particles like glass, polythene, as well as add mineral salts like calcium and the charcoal then removes the bad color and smell. Precious’ project instilled hope for her community that diarrhoeal diseases can be prevented and inspired them to take action. Precious enjoys singing, dancing, reading books, playing games like scrabble and aspires to study medicine and to become a pediatrician one day.
