Juwan Justin Yu

Justin is an aspiring water chemist and photo-ethnographer. Having witnessed the First Nations water crisis, his life goal is to improve Canada's public infrastructure through STEM and education. He founded "Acimona," an international NGO that uses photography and journalism to empower indigenous voices. For his Rise project, Justin invented a significantly cost-effective device to reduce lead contamination in water. As a result, he was named the 2023 Engineer & Geoscientist of BC winner and Fraser Valley Science champion. In his free time, he enjoys engaging in conversation and meeting new people.
