Rise Fellow 2021

Varun works on easy-to-implement solutions for preserving our planet. For his Rise project, he created a device that cleans floating plastic waste from bodies of water. The project began as a prototype collecting garbage from a lake and has since grown to a 20-feet long AI-enhanced vessel (patent pending). He has enlisted municipal administrations across Asia to start using the device – 67 and counting. Varun was recognized by the American Meteorological Society for his efforts and was shortlisted for an HBO show called “Finding Einstein.”
