Rise Global Winner 2023

Onkar is a space entrepreneur and technologist from Jammu and Kashmir, India. He was first recognized for his work when he was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in 2020. Since then, he has developed "InQube," a 1U technology demonstration satellite mission. This initiative is the first open-source satellite of India, and he is currently working on launching it into orbit. For his Rise project, Onkar strived to create a reliable satellite network to allow the LEO satellites to communicate important planetary assets—such as agriculture, maritime, and disaster management—with the operators in real time. Onkar plans to continue his space ventures in California, where he hopes to develop power-efficient and reliable technologies for the lower-orbit satellite industry.
