Cristiano Da Silva

Cristiano is a Canadian student passionate about using engineering and science as tools to address global challenges. He is currently involved in a research program at the University of Toronto, using the COBWEB simulation model to research cognitive science and mental illness inheritance. Cristiano has excelled in mathematics, earning a medal in the University of Waterloo’s Math Contest. An active community contributor, he serves on his school's student council, works as a lifeguard, and has volunteered as an art instructor for students with cognitive disabilities. For his RISE project, he designed and modelled a reusable glucose monitor applicator to improve the affordability and sustainability of diabetes treatment. In the future, Cristiano hopes to use material science and nanotechnology to tackle pressing environmental issues.
